Venturing Out - Day Five of the Ice

After a week of hunkering down behind battened hatches, I ventured out to drive on the neighborhood streets yesterday.
It was staggering to see the volume of damage to the trees along familiar trails and to find that my trees were not the only ones affected by the storm.

The biggest tree in the backyard sustained the most damage, an  Arizona ash planted back in the early 1990s when we first moved out here.

The roads were like an ice palace with frozen sculptures at every turn. Even a speed limit sign provided a visual point of interest with its ice sheath slipped down to reveal an icicle fringed skirt.

Watching ducks swim about on the icy surface of the chilly water, the small pond by the RV Park was reminiscent of a favorite story from the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes".

It was good to get out.

  1. Hello Peg. The photos are beautiful. The beauty brought with it damage and some grief. There is a metaphor to be had there. Glad I stopped by for a glimpse of your journey.

    1. Hi Mike. You have the gift of metaphor. It sounds nice just the way you described it. Thanks for your visit.

    1. Hi Mcjmusings. Thanks for dropping by to check out my trees. Today the tree guys finally made their way out and I'm relieved to say, they were able to save both of the trees in the back yard. They even look alright, if a little bare right now.
Got your lovely package with the beautiful cards. Thank you so very much. I can't wait to use them for special occasions and friends. You are so talented. Love to you and Aunt B., Peg

  4. Thanks Mike. Claude will be very pleased by your support. That number does seem to be stuck for the time being. I appreciate what you've done on his behalf. I remember getting the call the day that his accident happened. We were both supposed to be on our way to California for a project meeting. My friend in Atlanta called to let me know what had happened over the weekend.
I'm trying to figure out how to put Pinterest on the Blogger. Any clues? I got as far as the widget then backed out.

  5. Hello Peg - I don't know how to put Pinterest on Blogger. I would do two things. Look for a Youtube tutorial and type 'Pinterest on Blogger?' in a Google search line. Either may give you the clues you need.

    Hope all is well.
